Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards El Chaltén, which is the nearest town to Laguna de los Tres. From El Chaltén, drive to the trailhead at the Laguna de los Tres parking area. The road is well-marked and takes approximately 10-15 minutes from the town center. There is no fee for parking at the trailhead. Once parked, you will begin your hike from the trailhead, which is well-signposted.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from major cities such as El Calafate or Puerto Natales directly to El Chaltén. The bus ride from El Calafate takes about 3 hours and tickets cost around 3000-4000 ARS (Argentinian Pesos). Once in El Chaltén, you can either walk to the trailhead, which is about a 30-minute walk from the town center, or take a taxi to the Laguna de los Tres parking area.

• Hiking

  After reaching the parking area at Laguna de los Tres, you will embark on a hike of approximately 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) one way. The hike typically takes 4-5 hours to reach the lagoon, depending on your pace. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers.
