If you are traveling by car, start your journey in Punta Arenas, which is the closest major city to Magdalena Island. From Punta Arenas, head south on Route 9 (also known as the 'Carretera Austral'). Follow the signs for the ferry terminal, which is located at the northern tip of the island of Tierra del Fuego. The drive is approximately 34 km and takes around 45 minutes. Upon reaching the ferry terminal, you will need to park your car and purchase ferry tickets to cross the Strait of Magellan to Magdalena Island.

If you prefer public transportation, start at the main bus terminal in Punta Arenas. Look for a bus service that operates routes to the ferry terminal on Tierra del Fuego. These buses typically run several times a day. The fare is approximately CLP 5,000 to CLP 7,000 and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, you will need to purchase a ferry ticket to Magdalena Island.
