If you are starting from the Valdivia city center, head south on Calle O'Higgins. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Calle Independencia. Turn left onto Calle Independencia and walk until you reach the riverfront area. The Costanera Valdivia is located along the banks of the Calle San Carlos, and should be visible from the riverwalk.
