Discover more about Castillo Brunet

Nestled on Cerro Castillo in Viña del Mar, Castillo Brunet is a captivating museum showcasing Chile's architectural and cultural history. The castle was commissioned in 1923 by millionaire Rafael Brunet Brown, who sought a stone residence in the neo-medieval style. Designed by architects Alfredo Azancot and Jorge Schroeder, the castle boasts granite stones brought from France. Brunet's family could not finish the construction, and Juan Yarur acquired the property, completing it with arabesque details. In 1974, it became the property of Carabineros de Chile and was converted into a hotel, event center, and ceremonial palace. The castle was declared a Historical Monument in 2005. The castle's architecture includes towers and stained glass windows. Inside, the first floor features a grand hall with a main staircase and a circular skylight. A large vaulted room and an oak-covered dining room are also on this floor. The second floor houses seven bedrooms, including a master suite with a circular terrace offering panoramic views. The tower, adorned with colorful mosaics, once housed a mosque. Visitors can explore the castle's interiors, admire the blend of European and local craftsmanship, and stroll through the picturesque gardens with ocean views. The museum hosts exhibitions of local artists and historical artifacts.
