Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Quito, head south on the Pan-American Highway (E35) for about 45 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Latacunga. Continue on the highway until you reach the town of Latacunga. From there, take the road heading east towards Cotopaxi National Park. The entrance to the park is approximately 30 kilometers from Latacunga. Be prepared for a scenic drive with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. There are entry fees for the park, which vary depending on the type of vehicle you are driving.

  From Quito, you can take a bus from the Quitumbe Bus Terminal to Latacunga. The bus ride takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Latacunga, look for buses or shared taxis heading to Cotopaxi National Park. These should take you to the park entrance. Note that you might have to wait for the bus to fill up before it departs. The cost for the bus from Quito to Latacunga is typically around $2-3, and the local transport to Cotopaxi National Park may cost an additional $5-10.
