Travel Guide to Playa Blanca Barú

Getting There

• Boat

  Start your journey from the historic center of Cartagena. Head to the Muelle de la Bodeguita, which is the main dock for boat transport to Playa Blanca. Look for the signs that indicate 'Playa Blanca' or ask locals for directions. Purchase a ticket from one of the boat operators. The boat ride typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the weather and sea conditions. You will arrive at a beach area near Playa Blanca where you can enjoy the sun and the beautiful sea.

• Bus

  From the historic center of Cartagena, walk to the 'Terminal de Transportes de Cartagena'. You can take a taxi or a local bus to get there. Once at the terminal, look for buses heading to Barú or Playa Blanca. The ride will take approximately 1-1.5 hours. When you arrive at Barú, you may need to take a short moto-taxi or walk to reach Playa Blanca beach.

• Shared Van

  Head to the 'Centro' area in Cartagena, where you will find shared vans (known as 'colectivos') going to Playa Blanca. These vans generally leave when they are full, and the journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Inform the driver that you want to go to Playa Blanca, and they will drop you off close to the beach. Make sure to confirm the price before starting your trip.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Cartagena. Head towards the 'Puente de la Alegría', which connects the mainland to Barú. The ride will take you through scenic areas, but please be aware that it can be physically demanding. Once you reach Barú, you can find your way to Playa Blanca by following the signs or asking locals for directions.
