If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Catatumbo. Head southeast on the main road and follow the signs toward Zipaquirá. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, covering about 70 km. Once you reach Zipaquirá, follow the signs to 'Parque De La Sal'. There is a parking area available at the site. Please note that there may be a parking fee of around 5,000 to 10,000 COP.
Public Transportation
To reach the Salt Cathedral using public transportation, go to the local bus terminal in Catatumbo. Look for buses heading to Zipaquirá; these are typically labeled 'Zipaquirá' or 'Bogotá'. The bus ride will take approximately 2 hours and costs around 10,000 to 15,000 COP. Once you arrive at the Zipaquirá bus terminal, you can either walk (about 15-20 minutes) or take a local taxi to 'Parque De La Sal'. Taxis may charge around 8,000 to 12,000 COP for the short trip.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Catatumbo to the Salt Cathedral. This will be more expensive, costing approximately 150,000 to 200,000 COP for the one-way trip.
