If you're traveling by car, start your journey in Valledupar, the capital of Cesar Department. Head out of Valledupar on the Vía Valledupar - La Paz road (Route 25). Continue for about 30 km until you reach the junction for the road towards La Paz. Turn left onto this road and follow it for approximately 20 km. After passing through La Paz, continue straight until you see signs for Río Cesar. The river is accessible via several unpaved roads that lead to its banks. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain.

For those using public transportation, begin at the Valledupar bus terminal. Look for buses heading towards La Paz. The journey will take roughly 1-1.5 hours and will cost around 10,000 COP. Once you arrive in La Paz, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (moto-taxi) to take you to the Río Cesar. The moto-taxi ride should cost about 5,000 COP and take around 15-20 minutes, depending on the road conditions.
