Getting There

• Bus

  To reach Acaime Nature Reserve in Salento from Ibagué, start by heading to the central bus terminal in Ibagué, known as Terminal de Transportes de Ibagué. Look for buses that head to Salento; they usually leave every hour. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Salento, you will get off at the main bus stop in the town. From there, you can either take a taxi or walk towards the main square (Plaza de Bolívar) and ask locals for directions to Acaime Nature Reserve. It is about 12 kilometers from the town center, so taking a taxi (which should cost around 15,000-20,000 COP) is recommended if you prefer convenience.

• Walking

  If you choose to walk from the main square in Salento to Acaime Nature Reserve, head northwest on Calle Real. Continue walking straight as the street becomes Calle 6. Follow the signs for Acaime Nature Reserve, which will guide you through the beautiful scenery of the area. The walk is scenic and will take approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the path can be steep in places.

• Taxi

  Once you are in Salento, you can easily find a taxi near the main square (Plaza de Bolívar). Tell the driver you want to go to Acaime Nature Reserve. The ride should take about 20 minutes, covering a distance of around 12 kilometers. The fare will typically range from 15,000 to 20,000 COP, depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.
