Discover more about Parque Timiza

Parque Timiza, located in the Kennedy area of Bogotá, is a vibrant metropolitan park spanning approximately 29.8 hectares. This green space, originally part of land owned by the family of former President Alfonso López Pumarejo, was created in response to the establishment of Ciudad Kennedy in 1961. The park's history is centered around its lake, which was initially surrounded by mechanical rides like carousels and a Ferris wheel. In the early 1970s, boat services, food stalls, and even a small zoo were added. By 1980, a football stadium was built, and in 2002, the district administration renovated the park, removing the boats and mechanical games to create a passive recreation space. The park underwent further renovations, and on August 7, 2021, new additions were inaugurated, including two synthetic soccer fields, a skating rink, a BMX track, playgrounds, and a jogging track. Today, Parque Timiza features extensive green areas with numerous trees, pedestrian paths, plazas, and an asphalted cycling route. Sports facilities include a stadium with a natural grass soccer field and an athletics track. The park also connects to Villa del Río open park in Bosa through a pedestrian axis and bridge over the Tunjuelo River. Visitors can enjoy physical activities, contemplation, and leisure in this expansive urban oasis. The park also hosts community events and cultural activities throughout the year.
