Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Mocoa, the capital of Putumayo. Head southeast on the Avenida 6 de Octubre towards Calle 11. Continue straight onto Calle 11, which turns into the carretera Mocoa - Pitalito (Route 45). Follow this road for approximately 15 kilometers. Keep an eye out for road signs indicating Hornoyaco. The drive should take around 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions. Be cautious as the roads can be winding and sometimes in poor condition.
Public Transportation
To reach Hornoyaco via public transportation, first take a bus or 'colectivo' from the Mocoa bus terminal heading towards Pitalito. The bus ride should cost around 10,000 COP and take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the nearest drop-off point, you may need to take a moto-taxi or walk the remaining distance to Hornoyaco, which is approximately 5 kilometers away. The moto-taxi fare should be around 5,000 COP.
Walking (if needed)
If you decide to walk from the drop-off point after taking a bus, make sure to ask locals for the best walking route towards Hornoyaco. The terrain may vary, so be prepared for a bit of hiking. Ensure you have comfortable shoes and enough water for the journey.
