In 2013, Canyon Park was renamed in her honor, recognizing her commitment to the community and the city. Originally, the land housed Quonset huts owned by the University of Colorado. Emma Martinez advocated for the transformation of this site into a park, and she organized neighborhood clean-up crews to maintain the space.
