Pearl Street Mall: Boulder's Pedestrian Paradise

Pearl Street Mall, stretching from 11th to 15th Street in downtown Boulder, is more than just a shopping destination; it's the city's cultural core. This pedestrian-only zone, officially dedicated as the 'Downtown Boulder Mall' in 1977, has a rich history, evolving from a simple dirt road to Boulder's first paved street and, ultimately, a bustling pedestrian haven. The mall is home to a diverse mix of over 100 businesses, with a strong emphasis on locally owned and operated shops. Here, you'll find everything from unique boutiques and art galleries to bookstores and familiar national brands. Interspersed among the shops are numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars, offering a wide range of culinary delights. Pearl Street Mall is also known for its public art, including fountains, sculptures, and gardens. The city plants thousands of flowers here every spring and summer, including over 15,000 tulips imported from Holland, creating a vibrant and colorful environment.
