Breathtaking Views at Rainbow Curve Overlook

Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Estes Park, head northwest on Elkhorn Avenue towards Moraine Avenue. Continue on Moraine Avenue until you reach the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. Here, you may need to pay an entrance fee. Once inside the park, proceed to the Bear Lake Road area and take the shuttle bus towards the park's scenic stops. Get off at the stop for Trail Ridge Road. From there, you will follow the trail markers leading to Rainbow Curve Overlook. It's approximately a 1.5-mile hike uphill, so be prepared for a moderate trek. The overlook offers stunning views, especially during sunrise and sunset.

• Biking

  If you have a bike, you can start from the center of Estes Park. Ride northwest on Elkhorn Avenue and then take a left onto Moraine Avenue, which leads you to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. After entering the park, follow the designated bike paths to reach Bear Lake Road. You can bike along the road, but be cautious of vehicles. Once you reach the area near Trail Ridge Road, find the bike parking area and lock your bike. From there, follow the hiking trail to Rainbow Curve Overlook, which is about a 1.5-mile uphill hike.

• Public Transportation

  Take the Estes Park Shuttle from downtown Estes Park. The shuttle provides access to various points in Rocky Mountain National Park. Request to be dropped off at the shuttle stop near Trail Ridge Road. After disembarking, follow the signs leading to Rainbow Curve Overlook, which is about a 1.5-mile hike uphill. Ensure to check the shuttle schedule for return trips, as they may not run frequently.
