If you're starting from the Montrose City Center, head west on Main Street towards S 1st Street. Continue walking straight until you reach S 4th Street. Turn left onto S 4th Street and walk south until you reach the intersection with Uncompahgre Riverway Trail. Take a right onto the trail, and follow it west. The West Main Trail Head will be on your right.

Begin at the Montrose Community Recreation Center located at 16350 Woodgate Rd. Head south on Woodgate Rd, turning left onto S 1st Street. Continue straight onto Main Street and follow it until you reach S 4th Street. Turn left on S 4th Street and keep heading south. At the intersection with Uncompahgre Riverway Trail, turn right onto the trail and ride westward. The West Main Trail Head will be on your right side.
