Walking
From the center of Monument, head north on Main Street towards the intersection with Highway 105. At the intersection, turn left onto Highway 105 and continue walking. You will pass through some residential areas, and the road will eventually become more rural. Keep walking until you reach the junction with I-25. Cross the highway safely at the pedestrian crossing, and continue north along the path that runs parallel to the highway. Follow the path for about 5 miles, keeping an eye on the signs directing to Ames Monument State Historic Site. After a while, you will see the monument on your right side. The total walking distance is approximately 6 miles, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Starting from the center of Monument, take Main Street north until you reach Highway 105. Turn left onto Highway 105 and bike along the road. The route will take you through scenic areas, and you may encounter some mild traffic, so stay aware. Continue on Highway 105 until you reach the intersection with I-25. Use the bike lane to safely cross the highway and follow the path that runs parallel to the highway. After about 5 miles, you will see the Ames Monument State Historic Site on your right. The bike ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on your speed.

You may need to transfer buses at least once. Look for a bus to Buford, Wyoming, as it is the closest stop to the monument.
