Getting There

Walking
Start at the Monument Town Center and head south on Beacon Lite Road. Continue walking for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with 2nd Street. Turn right onto 2nd Street and walk for another half a mile until you reach the intersection with Front Street. Turn left onto Front Street and continue until you reach the intersection with Highway 105. Cross Highway 105 carefully to reach the other side where you will see the entrance to the Monument Preserve. Enter the preserve and follow the trails leading toward Mount Herman Trailhead. This should take approximately 1 hour.

Biking
Start at the Monument Town Center. Take the bike path that runs along the east side of Beacon Lite Road heading south. Follow this path for about 1 mile, then turn onto 2nd Street heading right. Continue on 2nd Street for half a mile until you reach Front Street. Turn left on Front Street and bike until you reach the intersection with Highway 105. Carefully cross Highway 105 and continue towards the Monument Preserve. Once in the preserve, follow the signs towards Mount Herman Trailhead. The biking route should take about 30-40 minutes.

From Monument, locate the nearest bus stop for the local transit service. Board the bus that heads towards Colorado Springs. Inform the driver you want to get off near the Monument Preserve area. Once you disembark, walk south on Mount Herman Road. Follow the signs for the Monument Preserve and Mount Herman Trailhead. This journey may take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on bus schedules.
