Getting There

• Walking

  Start your journey at the Town Hall located at 645 Beacon Lite Rd, Monument, CO 80132. From the Town Hall, head south on Beacon Lite Rd for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Second St. Turn left onto Second St and continue for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with Mitchell Ave. Turn right onto Mitchell Ave and walk for another 0.4 miles until you reach the intersection with Front St. Turn left onto Front St and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. You will come to the Monument Preserve entrance. Enter the preserve and follow the trails leading towards the Vindicator Mine area, which is approximately a 1-mile hike from the entrance.

  Begin your biking trip at the Monument Library at 1706 Lake Woodmoor Dr, Monument, CO 80132. Head east on Lake Woodmoor Dr for about 0.2 miles until you reach the intersection with Knollwood Dr. Turn left onto Knollwood Dr and continue for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Beacon Lite Rd. Turn left onto Beacon Lite Rd and bike south for about 1 mile. At the intersection with Second St, turn left and continue onto Mitchell Ave. Follow Mitchell Ave for about 0.5 miles to the entrance of Monument Preserve. Enter the preserve and follow the designated biking trails for approximately 1 mile until you reach the Vindicator Mine headframe.

  If you are looking to use public transport, start at the nearest bus stop at Monument Town Center. Take the bus headed towards Colorado Springs and get off at the stop at the intersection of Highway 105 and Second St. From there, walk south on Second St for about 0.3 miles until you reach Mitchell Ave. Turn right onto Mitchell Ave and continue for about 0.4 miles until you reach the entrance of Monument Preserve. Enter the preserve and follow the trails leading towards the Vindicator Mine, which is approximately a 1-mile hike from the entrance.
