Start your journey by getting onto US-40 E from any location in Northwest Colorado. Drive southeast on US-40 E for approximately 120 miles until you reach the town of Steamboat Springs. From Steamboat Springs, take the exit onto CO-131 S and continue on CO-131 S for about 55 miles until you reach the intersection with US-87 S in the town of Kremmling. Proceed south on US-87 S for about 90 miles, passing through the towns of Silverthorne and Fairplay. Continue on US-87 S until you reach the intersection with US-87 S/US-385 S near Limon, CO. Take US-385 S, which will lead you directly into Texas. Continue driving on US-385 S for approximately 70 miles until you reach Dalhart, TX. The Tri-State Monument will be a short drive from Dalhart; continue heading south for about 25 miles until you reach the monument located at the coordinates (36.5005496, -103.0023599).
