Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from Aspen, head south on CO-82 E towards El Jebel. Continue on CO-82 E for about 10 miles until you reach the junction with CO-24 N. Take the exit onto CO-24 N towards Leadville. Stay on CO-24 N for approximately 30 miles. You'll pass through the charming towns of Minturn and Red Cliff. Once you reach Twin Lakes, look for signs directing you to the Twin Lakes Historic District. The district is located near the intersection of CO-82 and Twin Lakes Road. There is no entrance fee, but check for parking availability.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, use the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) bus service. Start by catching the bus from Aspen to Glenwood Springs on the Route 1 bus. From Glenwood Springs, transfer to the Bustang service that travels to Leadville. Once in Leadville, you will need to take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach Twin Lakes, as public transportation does not directly connect to the historic district. Be prepared for taxi fares, which may vary depending on distance.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous traveler, biking to Twin Lakes is an option. You can rent a bicycle in Aspen or nearby areas. Follow CO-82 E until you reach the junction with CO-24 N. The ride is approximately 40 miles and includes some elevation changes, so be prepared with water and snacks. The scenery is breathtaking, making it a worthwhile journey. Ensure you have proper biking gear and check your bike for maintenance before you set out.
