Once near the forest, follow well-marked state highways and forest service roads to reach specific destinations like trailheads or campgrounds. Be aware that some forest service roads may be unpaved and require a high-clearance vehicle. Parking is available at most trailheads and campgrounds, but can be limited during peak season. There are no entrance fees for San Isabel National Forest. However, fees may apply for camping and some day-use areas. These fees are typically paid on-site.   While public transportation directly into the forest is limited, you can reach gateway towns like Leadville, Pueblo, or Salida by bus.
