Ghost Town Museum: Relive Colorado's Wild West History
Experience Colorado's Wild West history at the Ghost Town Museum: Authentic artifacts, interactive exhibits, and gold panning fun for all ages!
The Ghost Town Museum in Colorado Springs offers a captivating journey into Colorado's Wild West past. Opened in 1954, this unique museum preserves the memory of the many mining towns that sprang up around Pikes Peak during the late 1800s, only to be abandoned when the gold ran out. Inside the museum, visitors can explore a mock townsite constructed from original buildings and artifacts rescued from these ghost towns. Wander down a real wooden promenade and peek into the life of a pioneer, exploring exhibits showcasing how they lived, worked, and played. The museum offers a variety of interactive experiences for all ages. Try your hand at churning butter, test your aim at the shooting gallery, play antique arcade games, or pan for real gold (seasonal, May-September). The museum also features a gift shop with old-fashioned candies, snacks, and souvenirs. The Ghost Town Museum is housed in a historic stone building that once served as a maintenance facility for the Colorado Midland Railroad. This adds another layer of historical significance to the museum experience.
