Discover more about Ghost Town Museum

Step through the swinging doors of the Ghost Town Museum and be transported to the late 1800s, a time when Colorado was booming with gold prospectors and burgeoning frontier towns. Opened in 1954, the museum preserves the legacy of these settlements, many of which vanished as quickly as they appeared. The museum itself is housed in a historic stone building that once served as a maintenance facility for the Colorado Midland Railroad, adding to the authentic atmosphere. Inside, you'll discover a meticulously recreated ghost town, complete with original buildings and over 30,000 artifacts rescued from the Pikes Peak region. Explore a sheriff's office, saloon, general store, and more, each filled with relics from a bygone era. Engage in hands-on activities that bring the Old West to life. Try your hand at churning butter, operating an old-time printing press, or testing your aim at the shooting gallery. From May to September, pan for real gold, just like the prospectors of Cripple Creek. With its indoor location, the Ghost Town Museum offers a fun and educational experience year-round.
