Drift Peak, near Breckenridge, Colorado, offers a challenging but rewarding hiking experience with stunning panoramic views of the Tenmile Range. This 13er (13,915 ft) is a less-traveled summit, providing a sense of solitude and a connection with the rugged Colorado landscape.

Driving
From Breckenridge, drive south on Highway 9 for approximately 8 miles. Turn right (west) onto Blue Lakes Road (County Road 850). Continue for 2.3 miles to the parking area below the dam of the upper reservoir. This is the trailhead for the Blue Lakes Trail, which leads towards Drift Peak. Be aware that parking can be limited, especially during peak season. Consider carpooling or arriving early to secure a spot. There are no fees to park or access the trail.
Public Transport
From within Breckenridge, take the free Breckenridge Free Ride bus to the Breckenridge Station. From there, transfer to the Summit Stage bus and take the bus towards Frisco. Get off at the stop closest to the intersection of Highway 9 and Blue Lakes Road. From there, it is approximately a 2.3 mile walk along Blue Lakes Road to the trailhead. The Summit Stage is free.
