Getting There

    From the main entrance of West Rock Ridge State Park on Wintergreen Avenue, follow the Regicides Trail. The trail is well-marked and will lead you to Judges Cave. Be prepared for a moderately challenging uphill hike of approximately 1 mile with some uneven terrain. Allow about 20-30 minutes to reach the cave.

  • Public Transport

    From New Haven Union Station, take CT Transit bus #206 towards West Haven. Get off at the stop near Campbell Avenue and Main Street in West Haven. From there, walk along Campbell Avenue until you reach the entrance to West Rock Ridge State Park, where Judges Cave is located. The walk from the bus stop to the cave is approximately 1 mile and should take about 20 minutes. A single bus fare costs $1.75.

  • Driving

    From downtown New Haven, follow Route 10 (Dixwell Avenue) north. Turn onto Wintergreen Avenue and follow the signs to West Rock Ridge State Park. The main entrance to the park is located at 1134 Wintergreen Avenue. Limited parking is available at the main entrance. Parking is free. During peak season (June to October), the park drive to Judges Cave is open to cars. From the parking area, it is a short walk to the cave.
