    To reach Windsor Meadows State Park by car, head towards Windsor, CT. From Hartford, take I-91 North to Exit 36 for CT-20 East towards Bradley International Airport. Merge onto CT-20 E, then take the exit for I-91 South. Continue for about 2 miles and take Exit 37 for Windsor Ave. Merge onto Windsor Ave, which turns into E Barber St. The park entrance will be on your right after approximately 1 mile. Parking is available on-site. Parking is free.

    For those using public transportation, take the CT Transit bus #42 from Hartford to Windsor. The bus stops at Windsor Center, after which you can walk approximately 1.5 miles to the park. Head north on Windsor Ave, and then turn right onto E Barber St. The park entrance will be on your left. A one-way fare on CT Transit is $1.75.

    From Windsor Center, walk north on Windsor Ave. Turn right onto E Barber St. Continue for approximately 1.5 miles. The park entrance will be on your left.

The park is divided into three sections, with the southern section being the most popular due to its boat launch and access to the Windsor River Trail.History buffs will appreciate that the park's landscape resembles what Adriaen Block and his crew saw when they explored the river in 1619. The State of Connecticut acquired the land in 1968, preserving it as a conservation area. In 2012, the park was further developed with the addition of the Windsor River Trail, enhancing its appeal for walkers and bikers.Today, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including picnicking, fishing, boating, hiking, and biking. The Windsor River Trail is a 10-foot-wide, handicapped-accessible path that parallels the river, offering scenic overlooks and a connection to the Bissell Bridge Walkway Trail. This makes it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or an invigorating hike. The park also provides access to the Connecticut River for boating and fishing, making it a popular destination for anglers and water sports enthusiasts.
