Discover more about Kent Falls State Park

Kent Falls State Park, located in Kent, Connecticut, is a natural haven showcasing a series of picturesque waterfalls on Falls Brook, a tributary of the Housatonic River. The falls descend 250 feet in under a quarter mile, with the largest cascade dropping over 70 feet into a reflecting pool. Historically, the area was known as Scatacook by Native Americans, who used it for fishing and camping. During colonial times, mills were built along the brook. The park was established in 1919 after a donation from Alain C. White of the White Memorial Foundation. The Civil Works Administration and Youth Conservation Corps of America contributed to its development in the 1930s and 1970s, respectively. Visitors can enjoy hiking trails offering vantage points of the falls, including the ADA-accessible path to the base. A replica of a covered bridge adds to the park's charm, providing access to the falls. The park also provides opportunities for picnicking and fishing. Note that the park may be closed temporarily for trail construction until late June 2025.
