    Discover more about The Campbell

The Campbell, discreetly nestled in the southwest corner of Grand Central Terminal, is more than just a bar; it's a portal to a bygone era. Originally the private office and reception hall of John W. Campbell, a prominent financier of the Jazz Age, this iconic New York institution has been thoughtfully restored to its original grandeur. In 1923, Campbell commissioned Augustus N. Allen to transform the 3,500-square-foot space into an opulent office reminiscent of a 13th-century Florentine palace. The room boasts a 25-foot hand-painted plaster of paris ceiling, leaded windows, and a mahogany balcony with a quatrefoil design. A grand stone fireplace, in which Campbell kept his personal steel safe, adds to the room's unique character. After Campbell's death in 1957, the space served various purposes, including office space, a CBS studio, and even a jail. However, renovations in 1999 and 2007, and later by the Gerber Group, revived its original opulence, with Ingrao Inc. directing the restoration to maintain the integrity of the historic architecture while introducing contemporary design elements. Today, The Campbell offers three distinct experiences: The Campbell Bar, The Campbell Palm Court, and The Campbell Terrace. The Bar showcases the original office with quartzite accents, brass finishes, and custom furnishings. The Palm Court provides an indoor oasis with palm trees and views of the main terminal. The Terrace offers an outdoor veranda with a full bar. The bar's menu features classic and modern cocktails, wines, and local craft beers, complemented by elevated bar fare.
