Getting There

Walking
From the intersection of Orange Street and Cold Spring Street, head towards English Street. Trailheads are on the right. The Giant Steps Trail, a steep climb to the summit, begins at the English Drive gate along the north side of Rice Field. Alternatively, take the paved Summit Drive, entering from Davis Street or Farnham Drive. There are no fees for accessing the park or trails.

Public Transport
East Rock Park is accessible by bus. Take any bus that travels on State Street, Orange Street, or Whitney Avenue. Depending on the route, disembark near Bishop Gate, Blake Field, Cold Spring Street, or Livingston Street. From there, follow the walking directions to reach the park entrances and trailheads. A single bus fare within New Haven is typically $1.75.

Driving
From I-91, take Willow Street Exit (Exit 6), turn right onto Willow Street, then right onto Mitchell Drive. From Wilbur Cross Pkwy (15), take Whitney Avenue Exit (Exit 61) towards New Haven, continue to Cold Spring Street, and turn left. Parking areas are available at the top of East Rock Peak and near North Meadow. Street parking is also available near the entrance. Parking is free. Summit Drive provides access to the summit, but may be closed to vehicle traffic.
