Brainard Homestead State Park is accessible by car. From the junction of Route 149 and Route 82 in East Haddam, proceed north on Route 149 for 0.8 miles, then turn right onto Landing Hill Road. Follow Landing Hill Road for 0.4 miles and turn right onto Maple Avenue. Continue for 0.1 miles, then turn right onto Creek Row, a dirt road. Parking is available on the right by the open fields. Parking is free due to the Passport to the Parks program for Connecticut registered vehicles.

East Haddam offers a Dial-A-Ride service through River Valley Transit. To utilize this service, reservations must be made at least one day in advance by calling 860-510-0429. The fare is $3.50 each way. The service is available to the general public and can transport you to the vicinity of the park.
