Discover more about Kent Falls State Park

Kent Falls State Park, located in the charming town of Kent, Connecticut, is a natural oasis renowned for its breathtaking 250-foot waterfall. The park's centerpiece, Kent Falls, is a series of cascades on Falls Brook, a tributary of the Housatonic River. The largest cascade plunges dramatically over 70 feet into a reflecting pool before continuing its descent. Historically, the area was known as Scatacook by Native Americans, who used it for fishing and camping. During colonial times, mills harnessed the brook's power. The park was established in 1919, thanks to a donation from Alain C. White of the White Memorial Foundation. The Civilian Works Administration and the Youth Conservation Corps of America contributed to its development in the 1930s and 1970s, respectively. Visitors can explore the falls via several trails. The ADA-accessible path leads to the base of the falls, offering stunning views for all. The Kent Falls Steps Trail ascends along the falls, providing multiple vantage points. The red and yellow-blazed loop trail offers a more challenging hike through the surrounding forest. The park also features a covered bridge, picnic areas, and restroom facilities, making it ideal for a family outing. Whether you're seeking a peaceful connection with nature or an invigorating hike, Kent Falls State Park offers a memorable experience.
