Start your journey at the New Haven Union Station. From the station, take the Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line towards Bridgeport. Disembark at the West Haven Station, which is approximately a 10-minute ride. Once you arrive at West Haven Station, exit the station and head to the bus stop for CT Transit Route 10. Board the bus heading towards New Haven. You will want to ride this bus until you reach the stop at the intersection of Wilbur Cross Parkway and Route 34. This stop is the closest to Heroes Tunnel. From there, it's a short walk to the tunnel entrance.

If you are starting from downtown New Haven, you can take a leisurely walk. Head west on Chapel Street until you reach the intersection with State Street. Turn left onto State Street and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Route 34. Cross Route 34 and follow the signs for the Wilbur Cross Parkway. Stay on the sidewalk that runs parallel to the parkway. After approximately 1.5 miles, you will arrive at Heroes Tunnel, located near the entrance of the parkway.

For those who prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing stations in downtown New Haven. Head west on Chapel Street and then turn south onto Orange Street. Continue to follow Orange Street until you reach the West River Greenway. Follow the Greenway paths north to connect to the Wilbur Cross Parkway. Once you reach the parkway, continue biking on the path until you arrive at Heroes Tunnel. The trip should take about 25-30 minutes.
