    Driving

    From central West Suffield, head north on Mountain Road (CT-187). Sunrise Park will be on your left at 2075 Mountain Rd. Look for the park entrance and parking area. Parking is free for Suffield residents with a sticker; non-residents may be charged a fee on weekends and holidays during the summer.

    From the intersection of Phelps Road and Mountain Road, walk south on Mountain Road. The entrance to Sunrise Park will be a short distance on your left, marked by a sign. Follow the entrance road to the park's facilities.

Purchased by the residents of Suffield in 1966 through a town-wide fundraising effort, the park has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. The park's centerpiece is White's Pond, a 20-acre swimming area with a sandy beach. During the summer, lifeguards are on duty, making it a safe and enjoyable place for families to cool off. The pond is also ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. Anglers can try their luck along the banks of the pond, while boaters can explore its tranquil waters. Beyond the pond, Sunrise Park boasts a network of hiking trails that wind through the diverse landscape. These trails connect to the Metacomet Trail, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. The park also features a braille trail, fitness challenge course, disc golf course, bocce court, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. In the winter, visitors can enjoy ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, Sunrise Park offers picnic areas with tables and grills. The main pavilion, available for reservation by Suffield residents, hosts numerous parties and gatherings throughout the year. The park also includes a playground for children, a dog swim area, and a charming "Chapel in the Woods". Non-residents should be aware that during weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day, there is a fee of $35 per car for up to 5 people, and $5 per additional adult. Suffield residents can obtain a sticker from the Town Clerk for free parking.
