Harris, it was the first theater on the street. The Hudson quickly became a premier playhouse, hosting legendary performers like Douglas Fairbanks, Helen Hayes, and Barbara Stanwyck. Harris's wife, Renee, managed the theater after his death on the Titanic in 1912.
In the mid-20th century, the Hudson transitioned into a radio and television studio, hosting shows like "The Tonight Show" starring Steve Allen. It later served as an adult film theater and a rock club before achieving landmark status in 1987. After a meticulous restoration, the Hudson reopened as a Broadway theater in 2017 under the Ambassador Theatre Group. The theater has 970 seats across three levels.
