Car
If you're driving from the center of Willimantic, take CT-32 South towards East Haddam. Continue on CT-32 for about 12 miles until you reach the junction with CT-149. Turn left onto CT-149 and follow it for approximately 3 miles. Then, turn right onto Hopyard Road. Devil's Hopyard State Park will be on your left at 366 Hopyard Rd, East Haddam, CT 06423. There is no entry fee to the park, but parking may be limited on busy weekends.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, start by taking a bus from Willimantic to Middletown. You can catch the Peter Pan Bus Lines or Greyhound, depending on schedules. Once in Middletown, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to Devil's Hopyard State Park, as there is no direct public transport service to the park. The taxi ride from Middletown to the park is approximately 15 miles and can cost around $30-$40.
Car from Hartford
If you're starting from Hartford, take I-91 South towards New Haven. Merge onto CT-9 South towards Middletown. Continue on CT-9 for about 20 miles, then take exit 10 for CT-66 East towards East Haddam. Follow CT-66 for about 10 miles, then turn left onto Hopyard Road. The park entrance will be on your left at 366 Hopyard Rd, East Haddam, CT 06423. Again, there is no entry fee, but keep an eye out for parking availability.
