Getting There

  • Bus

    Rarotonga has a circular bus route that operates in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions from Avarua. The bus is an affordable way to reach Muri Lagoon from anywhere on the island. A single ride costs around NZD $5, or you can purchase a day pass for approximately NZD $16. From the bus stop in Muri, it's a short walk to the beach and lagoon access points.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available at Rarotonga International Airport and can take you directly to Muri Lagoon. A taxi ride from the airport to Muri typically costs between NZD $30 and $40, depending on traffic and your specific destination within Muri. Taxis can also be arranged from accommodations around the island.

  • Car Rental

    Renting a car offers flexibility to explore Rarotonga at your own pace. Several car rental agencies are located at the airport and in Avarua. From Avarua, follow the main road east towards Muri. Parking is available near Muri Beach, but it can be limited during peak hours. Car rentals typically start around NZD $50 per day. Be aware that driving in Rarotonga is on the left side of the road.
