Discover more about Entrada a Santa Rosa

Entrada a Santa Rosa marks the entrance to Santa Rosa National Park, a significant protected area in Costa Rica's Guanacaste Province. Established in 1971, the park spans 495 square kilometers (191 sq mi) and protects the largest remaining section of tropical dry forest in Central America. The park's diverse habitats include beaches, mangrove estuaries, marine areas, pasture/farmland, and tropical dry forest, offering visitors a wide range of natural beauty to explore. Santa Rosa National Park is not only a natural treasure but also a site of historical importance. La Casona, a colonial-era hacienda, stands as a monument commemorating the Battle of Santa Rosa in 1856, a pivotal event in Costa Rican history. The building now functions as a museum, displaying military paraphernalia and artifacts from everyday life in a Tico Hacienda in the mid-1800s. Visitors to Santa Rosa National Park can enjoy a variety of activities, including hiking, camping, surfing, and wildlife observation. The park features an extensive network of hiking trails that wind through diverse landscapes, offering opportunities to spot local flora and fauna. The coastline boasts unspoiled beaches like Playa Naranjo and Playa Nancite, known for their golden sands, clear waters, and excellent surfing. Playa Nancite is also one of two beaches in Costa Rica where Pacific Ridley sea turtles come ashore for mass nesting events called arribadas.
