Car
From Uvita, drive approximately 20 km south on Route 34. Look for a green sign on the left for 'Restaurante Tilapia' or 'Cascada El Pavón' just before a bridge; if you cross the bridge, you've gone too far. Turn left onto the gravel road and continue for about 3.5-4 km. The road is generally manageable in a standard car during the dry season, but a 4WD is recommended during the rainy season. Parking is available on the roadside near the trailhead. Be cautious and don't leave valuables in your car. There is no parking fee.

Public Transport
From Jaco, take a bus from the main bus terminal on Avenida Pastor Diaz towards Quepos or Manuel Antonio. Ask the driver to drop you off near Punta Mala Arriba. The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. From there, you can take a taxi or local shuttle to Punta Mala Arriba; the fare may range from 10,000 to 15,000 colones. Confirm with the driver that they know the location of Cascada El Pavón. Alternatively, you can walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Cascada El Pavón. Head east on the main road, following signs towards Punta Mala Arriba. After about 500 meters, you will notice a small trail on your left that leads into the forest. Follow this trail, which will lead you down towards the waterfall.

If you are staying in Punta Mala Arriba, you can walk to Cascada El Pavón. From the center of Punta Mala Arriba, follow the main road towards the waterfall. It's a scenic walk that should take around 30-45 minutes, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated, as the trek may involve uneven terrain. Keep an eye out for local signs and ask residents for directions if needed.
