However, the project faced significant delays due to political and economic crises, halting construction for nearly 18 years. In 2007, thanks to a donation from Saudi Arabia, the project was revived, and the mosque was finally completed.The mosque's architecture is a blend of modern and traditional Islamic design elements. The most striking feature is its large, majorelle-blue dome, which dominates the Abidjan skyline. The 65-meter minaret is another prominent feature, from which the call to prayer is announced. The mosque covers an area of 7,500 square meters and can accommodate up to 6,500 worshippers, with space for 3,500 on the esplanade and 3,000 in the prayer hall.Inside, the mosque features a large prayer hall adorned with elegant decorations that reflect the spiritual significance of the space. The mosque also houses several offices, shops, a library with religious texts, a residence for the Imam, a 300-seat amphitheater, a mortuary, and a mezzanine for women with a capacity of 500.
