Zoo d'Abidjan: A Sanctuary of West African Wildlife

Located in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire, the Zoo National d'Abidjan has been a fixture since its establishment in 1930. Initially a private animal collection, the zoo was later acquired by the state in 1965 and nationalized in 1972. Despite facing challenges, including periods of instability and the 2011 civil war, which led to the loss of many animals, the zoo has persevered and is committed to conservation efforts.The zoo covers a large area and houses over 200 animals representing more than 50 species.
