Lagune Aby, located in southeastern Côte d'Ivoire, is the second-largest lagoon in the country, after Ébrié Lagoon, boasting an area of 424 sq km. This expansive body of water is comprised of three main sections: the Aby Lagoon proper, Tendo Lagoon, and Ehy Lagoon. Fed by the Bia and Tano rivers, the lagoon complex eventually drains into the Atlantic Ocean.The lagoon's climate features two rainy seasons (May to July and October to November) and two dry seasons (August to September and December to April), with an annual rainfall of approximately 2,000 mm. The salinity of the lagoon varies with rainfall, peaking in March and April. The southern part of the main Aby Lagoon exhibits the highest salinity, while the areas near the mouths of the Bia and Tano rivers remain fresh throughout the year.Surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant local flora, Lagune Aby is an ideal spot for leisurely strolls, basking in the sun, and enjoying the soothing sounds of nature. Public Transport
To reach Lagune Aby via public transport from Abidjan, take a bus or taxi-brousse from a central bus station towards Grand-Lahou. The fare typically ranges from 1,500 to 2,500 CFA francs, and the journey takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Upon arriving in Grand-Lahou, you can take another taxi-brousse or a shared taxi towards Lagune Aby. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off at the lagoon area.
