Located on a hill a half-hour walk from Postira, Mirje is an archeological site that whispers tales of ancient Brač. This location was once home to a Roman villa, and in the 6th century, an early Christian basilica was erected upon its foundations. Later, a Benedictine monastery was built.Archaeological excavations beginning in 1992 unearthed the remains of the sanctuary and church, revealing Mirje as the richest Early Christian site on the island. Today, visitors can explore these ruins, imagining the lives of those who once inhabited this sacred space.While only remnants of the past are visible, the site offers an impressive view of Brač's history, enhanced by the beautiful natural surroundings.
