If you're traveling by car, start by heading towards the A1 motorway (Autocesta A1) if you're coming from Central Croatia. Take the exit towards Dubrovnik. Follow the signs for Dubrovnik, and then follow the D8 road, which will lead you directly into the city. Once you arrive in Dubrovnik, follow the signs for the Old Town (Stari Grad). As you approach the Old Town, you will see signs for parking. There are several parking lots available, but be aware that they can charge around 10-15 HRK per hour. After parking, walk towards the Pile Gate, which is a short distance away from the parking areas.

Public Transportation - Bus
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus to Dubrovnik from various locations in Central Croatia, including cities like Split and Zadar. Check for buses operated by companies like FlixBus. Once you arrive at the Dubrovnik Bus Terminal, you can take a local bus (number 6 or 1A) towards the Old Town. The fare is around 15 HRK. Get off at the stop 'Pile' which is the closest stop to Pile Gate. From there, it is a short walk to the gate.

If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi or using a ride-sharing service like Uber from your location in Central Croatia to Dubrovnik. This option is more expensive, with fares typically around 1000-1500 HRK depending on your starting point. Once in Dubrovnik, ask the driver to drop you off at Pile Gate or at a nearby location where you can easily access the gate.
