The Old Town is a pedestrian-only zone, making walking the primary mode of transport. From Pile Gate, the main entrance, walk straight ahead onto Stradun, the main thoroughfare. Key landmarks like the Onofrio Fountain and the Franciscan Monastery are immediately visible. Be aware that many streets are steep and cobbled.
Public Transport
Local buses operated by Libertas connect the Old Town (Pile Gate) with other parts of Dubrovnik. From the Gruž Port or Lapad, take bus lines 1A, 1B, or 3 to Pile Gate. Tickets cost €1.73 if purchased in advance at kiosks or €2.50 if bought from the driver. A 24-hour pass is available for €5.31.
Taxi/Ride-Sharing
Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Bolt are readily available outside the Old Town. A short taxi ride from Gruž Port to Pile Gate typically costs between €10 and €15. Be aware that prices may be higher during peak season. Uber and Bolt often offer competitive rates.

Parking near the Old Town is limited and expensive. The nearest parking options are located outside the city walls. Hourly rates range from €3 to €10. Dubrovnik City Parking, located a 20-25 minute walk from the Old Town, offers more affordable rates at €2.90 per hour or €23.20 per day. An underground garage at Ilijina Glavica charges between 280 to 360 Kuna for 24 hours. Consider using public transport or a taxi from your parking location to Pile Gate.
