Walking
Start from the main square in Hvar (Trg Sv. Stjepana). Head east towards the waterfront promenade (Riva). Walk along the Riva until you reach the end, where you will see the marina. Continue straight past the marina, following the signs for the 'Napoleon Fortress' or 'Fortica'. As you walk, you will pass a few restaurants and shops. Keep walking until you reach the base of the hill leading up to the fortress. The trail begins here, which is marked with signs. The hike will take approximately 20-30 minutes and is steep, so wear comfortable shoes.

If you are starting from the Hvar Cathedral, exit the cathedral and turn left onto Ulica Dinka Šimunovića. Continue walking until you reach the main square (Trg Sv. Stjepana). From the square, follow the directions as mentioned above to the waterfront promenade and then to the base of the hill leading to the Napoleon Fortress.
