An Unforgettable Day with Dan – Knowledgeable, and Highly Recommended!
We had an informative and interesting day with Dan from Kotor Tours on our cruise line shore excursion from Rijeka. Dan speaks fluent, effortless English and has an impressive, in-depth knowledge of Croatian and Slovenian history and culture. He delivers explanations clearly and engagingly, ensuring the stories never feel dry or like a textbook lecture. Beyond his extensive knowledge, Dan is approachable, warm, and personable, making us feel completely at ease. We traveled in a very clean and comfortable vehicle, which made the tour smooth and relaxing. A bonus of our day included a truffle and olive oil tasting. Dan clearly has loyal local connections, and we directly benefited from the incredible quality of the local artisans he introduced us to. It was a true highlight of our trip! Highlights of Istria from Rijeka
Surprising area of Croatia
Our group of 6 really enjoyed our time visiting Istria and it's beautiful towns and scenery. We had some confusion as to where to meet our driver/guide to start the tour. The map location provided was further away than the end of the ship ramp where he was waiting. Shame on us as we didn't look for the company sign in the windshield. Once on our way to Hum, it was a windy road but we were all comfortable. The smallest town lived up to the hype with its midieval buildings and spiced brandy! We should have brought trekking poles for the Motovun cobblestone hills as we hiked to the top for more glorious scenery and tastings of truffle products. Our last stop in Porec is where we had a divine lunch of pasta, seafood and truffles. Our guide Dwayne was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide throughout the day.
