    From Pula, take the route 23 or 23A bus from the main bus station to Valtura. The bus ride costs 11 Kuna each way. From Valtura, walk approximately 1.7 kilometers to Nesactium. Follow the road around the church, which turns into a dirt/rock/gravel road shortly before reaching the site.

  • Car

    From Pula, take the D66 road towards Vodnjan and merge onto the D75. Follow the signs for Muntić. From Muntić, follow local signs to Nesactium. Parking is available near the site. Parking fees may apply.

Nesactium, located near Muntić and Valtura in Istria, Croatia, is an archaeological site with a rich history dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages. It was once the capital of the Histri, an ancient tribe who inhabited the Istrian peninsula. In 177 BC, the Romans conquered and destroyed the town, but it was later rebuilt as a Roman settlement. Today, visitors can explore the remains of Nesactium, including the 800-meter-long walls, the necropolis, and the ruins of Roman structures such as the forum, temples, and basilicas. The site offers a glimpse into the lives of the Histri and the Romans who once lived here. Artifacts discovered at Nesactium, including ceramics, urns, and jewelry, are now housed in the Archaeological Museum of Istria in Pula. Nesactium is located on Glavica hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valley and Budava Bay. The site is open to visitors year-round, and guided tours are available during the summer months.
