    Getting There

    Driving

    From Zagreb, take the A1 highway south towards Gospic. Exit at Gospic and follow the D25 road towards Karlobag. Then, take local roads towards Northern Velebit National Park. Note that the last part of the road to the Zavižan Mountain Hut can be rough. Parking near the hut is available. Tolls on the A1 highway can vary, but expect to pay around 80-100 HRK. Entrance fee to the Northern Velebit National Park is approximately 45 HRK per adult for a 3-day ticket.

    Public Transport

    Take a bus from Zagreb to Senj or Gospic. From Senj or Gospic, local buses may be available to nearby villages, but access to the park's entrance may require a taxi or pre-arranged transport. A taxi from Senj to the park entrance could cost around 300-400 HRK. Entrance fee to the Northern Velebit National Park is approximately 45 HRK per adult for a 3-day ticket.

    Hiking

    For experienced hikers, the Velebit Hiking Trail (VPP) offers a challenging but rewarding approach. The trail starts at Zavižan, accessible from Oltari or Krasno (3-4 hours of walking). From Oltari, the trail rises 600m in altitude. There is an entrance ticket to the North Velebit National Park that needs to be paid at Babić Siča. The VPP is around 100 km in total and takes about 9 days to complete. Hikers need to bring their own food and sleeping bags.
