Getting There

  • Bus

    From Plitvice Lakes National Park, take a bus towards Rakovica. Prijevoz Knežević operates buses twice daily between Plitvička Jezera and Rakovica. The bus ride takes approximately 14 minutes and costs around €6. From the Rakovica bus station, follow the signs to Baraćeve špilje, approximately a 10-minute taxi ride.

    If driving, head towards Rakovica. From Zagreb, take the D1 road south towards Plitvice Lakes National Park. After passing through Rakovica, look for signs directing you to Nova Kršlja and Baraćeve špilje. The caves are located at Nova Kršlja bb, 47245, Rakovica. Free parking is available on-site. Note that there is a parking lot at the road, a 500 m walk to the cave entrance, and a small parking lot closer to the cave.

Venture into the depths of the Barać Caves (Baraćeve špilje), a captivating natural attraction located near the village of Nova Kršlja in Rakovica, Croatia. This cave system, comprised of the Upper, Lower, and New Barać Cave, has been shaped over millennia, resulting in breathtaking formations of stalactites, stalagmites, and stalagnates. The Upper Barać Cave is the only cave open to the public, offering guided tours that delve into the cave's geological structure, history, and archaeological significance.
