Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Osijek, take the D2 road heading southwest. Continue on D2 for approximately 30 km until you reach the town of Slavonski Brod. From Slavonski Brod, take the D7 road towards the town of Nova Gradiška. After about 20 km, take the exit toward Lug. Follow the signs for Lug, and after approximately 5 km, you will arrive at Castle Tikves, located at 31328, Lug. Parking is available near the castle.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Osijek, take a bus from the main bus station to Slavonski Brod. Buses run frequently, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Slavonski Brod, transfer to a bus heading towards Nova Gradiška. After arriving at Nova Gradiška, you will need to take a local bus or taxi to Lug. The local bus service may not run frequently, so check the schedule in advance. Once you arrive in Lug, Castle Tikves is within walking distance from the bus stop.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from either Osijek or Slavonski Brod. This option is more expensive, typically costing between 300 to 500 HRK depending on your starting point. The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on a fare before starting your trip or ensure the taxi meter is running.

• Bicycle

  If you enjoy cycling, renting a bicycle in Osijek or Slavonski Brod can be a scenic way to reach Castle Tikves. Follow the D2 road from Osijek towards Slavonski Brod, then take the D7 road toward Nova Gradiška. The total distance is approximately 50 km and can take 3-4 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you are prepared with sufficient water and snacks, as well as a map or GPS device.
